Saturnus Gin - With rose hips from Falsterbo

The vision with this gin was to find the base for a perfect dry martini. That's why we let juniper berries, herbs and citrus be the flavor drivers when we were choosing the right botanicals. The first thing that strikes you in the nose is clear juniper berries. Once the juniper berries have settled, a fresh citrus note emerges and it is easy to understand what dominates the taste palette. What makes the fragrance look ugly is the distinct herbaceousness, mainly from the meadowsweet. This is followed by the fruitiness of rose hips and and blackcurrant and rounded off with a slightly floral note. Once the first drops land on the tongue, the pattern repeats itself with a gin that offers a taste journey in different stages. The juniper berries are what come out most clearly, but the complexity and the long aftertaste is something that many people react positively to during tastings. What may not come through in the aroma as clearly as the taste is how smooth Saturnus Gin is to drink pure. In fact, it could also have acted as schnapps, in a good way.

If we look at the raw materials, it is above all the rose hips that stand out. These were picked by our CEO, Edward and his family along the shores of Falsterbo on an August evening. After picking a few kilos of rose hips and getting at least as many mosquito bites, it was time to report the harvest to the distiller on Saturnus. "This was absolutely fantastic. Now I just need as much more!", said the distiller, and Edward and his family had to go out again. This time heavily sprayed with mosquito spray.

Regardless, it was worth the effort as the result was a gin that reflects what Saturnus is all about. Good ingredients, high craftsmanship and passion for good tastes.
